Vranov nad Dyjí, surroundings of the Vranov reservoir, Bítov, Znojmo
The Vranov region ranks among the most beautiful places in the Czech Republic. It is located in southern Moravia at the border with Austria about 22 km west of Znojmo. Thanks to its location, it has long ranked among the most popular holiday resorts in the Czech Republic and has been enjoying growing popularity among foreign tourists in recent years.
The Podyjí National Park, the Vranov reservoir, and many famous vineyards interlaced with countless trails and a number of wine cellars that invite you to sit over a glass of good wine.
Vranov nad Dyjí castle
This Baroque castle was rebuilt in the late 17th century. It was designed by the world-famous Jan Fischer of Erlach who created the Ancestral Hall, one of the most interesting spaces in the Vranov castle. In addition to visiting the castle's interiors, visitors can also take a look inside the chapel.
Bítov castle
The Bítov castle is one of the oldest Czech castles and is unique by its location – it is located on a promontory surrounded by the Želetavka river from three sides. The castle is famous for the largest collection of stuffed dogs in Europe. Both children and adult visitors of the Bítov castle can also look forward the Baron Haas Zoo.
Vranov dam
The Vranov dam offers a sandy beach, shores dotted with cottages, and a number of picturesque and isolated corners. You will also find plenty of fun attractions here. From the water level, visitors can see in a unique way the curves of the white bridge that connects the beach with the road to Vranov nad Dyjí and the dam.
Clary's cross – Clary's trail
The Clary's cross is a popular lookout site for local people and visitors of Vranov. It is located in a forest projection opposite the dam. The cross was built by the former owner of the Vranov estate Stanislav Mniszek in memory of his friend Karel Clary.
Podyjí National Park
The Podyjí National Park offers countless interesting cycling and hiking trails along local places of interest. Fantastic outlooks, mysterious ruins, and natural rarities – all this invites visitors to return to the Podyjí again and again. There are several protected zones in the Podyjí National Park.
Vranov fortress museum
Between 1935 and 1938, a protective belt of bunkers was built in Vranov nad Dyjí, of which 19 survived. The strip of small reinforced concrete structures stretches from the castle to the dam. The bunkers are freely accessible, and three of them, adjacent to the Vranov castle, contain contemporary equipment.
Znojmo
There are many monuments in the town of Znojmo, some of which are also included in the Czech Republic's protected natural monuments. The very town is an urban conservation area. The Old Town of Znojmo, with its crooked streets based on the late Romanesque ground plan from the beginning of the 13th century and separated from the new town walls, is protected as an urban conservation area.
